Volunteer

When I was in my twenties I worked in a nursing home. It was sad to see how many patients families rarely came to visit, if at all. Many of my patients didn't have any family close by to visit them so they didn't get visits at all except maybe around the holidays or on their birthdays. We can make a difference in the live of many elderly people by volunteering.

Soup Kitchens

Here at new Covenants we believe that service to others is service to God. So we urge you weather you have a church or not to serve. One great way of serving is to volunteer at a soup kitchen. We urge you to consider doing this not only because the holidays are coming but anytime of the year. If you have a church get the whole church involved. Many people have become homeless in the past ten years due to the housing crises and the failing economy. Volunteers are desperately needed to handle the load. Seeing a preaching acted out is far better then hearing one. Talk is cheap! Show what kind of christian you are by doing what Jesus would have done. He fed many people, thousands at a time even. Isaiah 61

The Good News of Salvation

 1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,

      Because the LORD has anointed Me 

      To preach good tidings to the poor; 

      He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, 

      To proclaim liberty to the captives, 

      And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 

       2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, 

      And the day of vengeance of our God; 

      To comfort all who mourn, 

       3 To console those who mourn in Zion, 

      To give them beauty for ashes, 

      The oil of joy for mourning, 

      The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; 

      That they may be called trees of righteousness, 

      The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” 

       4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, 

      They shall raise up the former desolations, 

      And they shall repair the ruined cities, 

      The desolations of many generations. 

       5 Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, 

      And the sons of the foreigner 

      Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. 

       6 But you shall be named the priests of the LORD, 

      They shall call you the servants of our God. 

      You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, 

      And in their glory you shall boast. 

       7 Instead of your shame you shall have double honor,

      And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. 

      Therefore in their land they shall possess double; 

      Everlasting joy shall be theirs. 

       8 “ For I, the LORD, love justice; 

      I hate robbery for burnt offering; 

      I will direct their work in truth, 

      And will make with them an everlasting covenant. 

Luke 4: 16-21

He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, 

and went according to his custom 

into the synagogue on the sabbath day. 

He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. 

He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, 

because he has anointed me 

to bring glad tidings to the poor. 

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives 

and recovery of sight to the blind, 

to let the oppressed go free,

and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”

Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, 

and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.

He said to them, 

“Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Jesus is the answer.

Prophecy

Revelation 22

The River of Life

 ¹ And he showed me a pure^[a] river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. ² In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. ³ And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. ⁴ They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. ⁵ There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

The Time Is Near

  
⁶ Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy^[b] prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.
⁷ “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
⁸ Now I, John, saw and heard^[c] these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.
⁹ Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For^[d] I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” ¹⁰ And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. ¹¹ He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous^[e] still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”

Jesus Testifies to the Churches

  
¹² “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. ¹³ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”^[f]
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments,^[g] that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. ¹⁵ But^[h] outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
¹⁶ “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

A Warning

  
¹⁸ For^[i] I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add^[j] to him the plagues that are written in this book; ¹⁹ and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away^[k] his part from the Book^[l] of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I Am Coming Quickly

  
²⁰ He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
²¹ The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.^[m] Amen.
